More about
Wentworth Institute of Technology offers a four-year, NASAD-accredited Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design program situated at the intersection of art, business, and technology. The curriculum is driven by experiential, project-based design studios where students learn to transform human needs and visual trends into innovative, sustainable products such as consumer electronics, furniture, vehicles, medical devices, and toys. Coursework covers a comprehensive range of topics including human-centered research, drawing, model making, manufacturing technologies, rapid prototyping, user research, design history, information architecture, human factors, and business in design, culminating in a senior capstone research project. Students have access to the School of Architecture and Design Labs, which feature woodworking, metalworking, digital fabrication, CNC machinery, and robotics resources. A hallmark of the program is its mandatory cooperative work experience: all students must complete two full-time co-op terms (typically in years 3 and 4, with an optional summer co-op in year 2), preparing them for professional practice. Study-abroad semester opportunities are also available.
