California State University, Long Beach offers a 120-semester-unit Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design through its design program. The curriculum develops visual communication and design methodology alongside product development, human factors, materials and processes, presentation, costing, and professional practice.
Students progress from foundational coursework to advanced studios in which they research users, develop concepts, and refine physical and digital proposals. Portfolio review is required for entry to the upper-level curriculum, and the program includes internships, sponsored projects, and access to studios, computer labs, model-making facilities, and rapid prototyping equipment.
