Academy of Art University’s School of Industrial Design in San Francisco offers a 120-unit Bachelor of Fine Arts and a 63-unit Master of Fine Arts in Industrial Design. Both programs are available through on-campus and online study, and the curriculum includes design thinking, technical training with tools such as Autodesk Fusion, hands-on prototyping, and material science.
The BFA prepares students for product and automotive design through studio work and portfolio development. The MFA adds design research, production cost planning, ergonomics, sustainability, and optional automotive transportation design, and culminates in a thesis exhibition.
