The Industrial Design BS program at Thomas Jefferson University uses a human-centered design process to create innovative products, services, and systems that transform lives worldwide. Students work in an open, collaborative studio environment, gaining hands-on experience in drawing, 3D modeling, prototyping, and sustainable design. The curriculum spans 126–128 credits over four years, progressing from foundational coursework in visualization, CAD, materials and manufacturing, and design ethics to specialized studio sequences and capstone projects. The program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration with students in engineering, business, and architecture, featuring unique elements such as an Industry Sprint and a required industry project. Based on Jefferson's East Falls campus in Philadelphia — a major hub for design and architecture — students leverage internships, professional networking, and global study opportunities (including Jefferson Italy). Graduates pursue diverse career paths in design-led companies, consultancies, startups, and socially focused organizations.
