The Department of Design at Seoul National University traces its design education to an applied arts and crafts curriculum established in 1946. Undergraduate study builds foundational knowledge before students specialize in Industrial Design or Visual Design, while graduate education includes Product Design and Space Design within the Industrial Design area.
The department combines craft-based design education with Human-Centered Design, UX and HCI, and Service Design. Its learning environment includes facilities for CNC production, rapid prototyping, and user experience research, supporting both physical and digital design work.
