Folkwang University of the Arts is based in Essen, Germany, and was founded in 1927. Its interdisciplinary model brings design into dialogue with music, theatre, dance, the sciences, and other arts, while the design degree portfolio includes Product Design and Design Futures.
The Product Design BA uses a foundation year followed by artistic core projects, digital design, workshop practice, and theoretical studies. Students can investigate interaction and inquiry, social design, biodesign, and design by technology, with access to wood, metal, ceramic, textile, biological, and advanced technology workshops.
