Virginia Tech’s School of Design includes the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design program, which the 2026-2027 Virginia Tech Academic Catalog lists as a 124-credit undergraduate degree. The curriculum includes six industrial design laboratory courses, foundation design laboratories, design visualization, human factors, computer-aided industrial design, materials and processes, design research, professional practice and entrepreneurship, professional electives, and general education requirements. It also includes a Bridge Experience that may take the form of an internship, undergraduate research, co-op, or study abroad.
The School of Design describes industrial design as addressing human needs through products, systems, and services. Its site identifies design labs, workshops, and libraries as settings for experiential learning. The catalog requires a minimum overall GPA of 2.00 and an in-major GPA of 2.30 for graduation.
