More about
The University of Kentucky College of Design features a dedicated Department of Product Design offering a 120-credit-hour Bachelor of Science degree, which represents the formal title for what is traditionally known as Industrial Design and is the first such program in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The four-year curriculum emphasizes a holistic, human-centered approach, combining intensive design studios with coursework in materials, manufacturing processes, fabrication technology, and human factors/ergonomics. Students can specialize in vehicle/automotive design, medical products, digital products, housewares, athletic gear, and furniture. Uniquely, the program offers shared coursework with the University's Biomedical Engineering department. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and is a member of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).
