The University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers a Bachelor of Industrial Design through its College of the Arts and Department of Architecture and Design. The 120-credit program combines immersive studio learning with technical coursework in form development, critical thinking, presentation, digital modeling, rendering, rapid prototyping, manufacturing, and sustainable design.
Students use specialized wood, metal, and plastic prototyping shops and a digital fabrication lab with three-dimensional printers and laser cutters. The program prepares students to work across product, user experience and interaction, three-dimensional modeling, transportation, and design consulting contexts, including automotive, marine, medical, toy, furniture, and outdoor recreation applications.
