More about

The BFA in Product Design at Otis College of Art and Design is a multidisciplinary, STEM-designated program that merges art, design, business, and entrepreneurship. Operating in a collaborative studio environment where sophomores, juniors, and seniors share workspace, the program fosters curiosity, strategic thinking, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Students master core product design and development processes while cultivating a distinct creative voice, learning to think, make, and communicate through hands-on work with wood, metal, ceramics, plastics, leather, fabric, and other materials. The curriculum integrates 2D, 3D, and 4D digital and physical skills across numerous sectors. With access to professionally staffed wood and metal shops, ceramics labs, photography/video suites, and painting/sculpture studios, the program provides personalized mentorship focused on manufacturing knowledge, craftsmanship, and real-world problem-solving. Graduates commonly pursue roles as junior or associate designers and creative directors, and frequently launch independent ventures across tech, apparel, interiors, and digital product design industries.
