The Product Design major at MIAD attracts curious, innovative thinkers who explore how emerging technology and design shape everyday objects, ranging from smartphones to medical devices. The curriculum is grounded in empathy-driven human-centered design research, teaching students to utilize various materials, tools, and skills to create functional, aesthetically pleasing products — including soft goods, consumer products, toys, and cultural objects — that improve daily life. The program has earned 37 International Housewares Association awards, ranked #1 nationally in awards from the Society of Plastics Engineers, Association of Rotational Molders, and winSell Design Competition, and prepares graduates for careers at top employers such as Rivian, GE Healthcare, Harley-Davidson, Ford, GM, Dyson, Trek, Milwaukee Tool, Delta Faucet, and Hyundai.
