Who can enter this award?

Companies, startups, local governments, NPOs, and other organizations may enter, including joint applications, subject to the program rules. Entries must be purchasable or usable by March 31, 2027, publicly announceable on October 15, 2026, and capable of exhibition at the October 31 through November 4, 2026 GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION; adult products and military weapons are excluded.

What is the prize?

Winners receive Good Design Award recognition, inclusion in the winners gallery and official publications, exposure through JDP and media, GOOD DESIGN EXHIBITION inclusion, and initial G Mark promotion. Additional distinctions include BEST100, GOLD AWARD, special awards, and GRAND AWARD.

What do I need to submit?

Apply through the Online Entry Site with text describing purpose, users, implementation, and distinguishing features, plus images and category-appropriate supporting material such as video, drawings, models, or plans. Physical products may be requested for second screening, and awarded entries must be capable of exhibition.

Do I need to submit a physical prototype?

Only finalists are required to submit a physical prototype. You do not need to submit one when applying or making your initial submission. If selected as a finalist, a physical prototype may need to be sent for evaluation and additional costs may apply. Check the official award website for specific requirements and shipping details.
