The Red Dot Award traces its origins to 1955 and is organized by Red Dot GmbH and Co. KG in Essen, Germany. Its Product Design, Brands and Communication Design, and Design Concept disciplines cover a wide range of commercial and conceptual work from international entrants.

International experts judge entries by discipline, with Product Design assessed using physical products and the other disciplines evaluated through project documentation. Red Dot and Best of the Best distinctions bring label use, certificates or trophies, yearbook and archive publication, and opportunities for exhibition and professional promotion.

What is the prize?

Red Dot and Best of the Best winners receive the Red Dot label, certificate or trophy as applicable, Red Dot Design Yearbook and online archive listing, plus possible Red Dot museum or associated exhibition exposure. The Winner Package is mandatory for associated winner services.

What do I need to submit?

Register online and provide discipline-specific project descriptions and visual or audiovisual documentation. Product Design entries use the original functional physical product delivered to the jury venue on a Delivered Duty Paid basis, while communication and concept entries use digital materials.

Do I need to submit a physical prototype?

Only finalists are required to submit a physical prototype. You do not need to submit one when applying or making your initial submission. If selected as a finalist, a physical prototype may need to be sent for evaluation and additional costs may apply. Check the official award website for specific requirements and shipping details.
