Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA) in Rotterdam, Netherlands, offers a four-year Bachelor of Product Design. The programme combines hands-on research with concept development, analogue and digital drawing, prototyping, testing, material knowledge, production techniques, and craft. Its subject matter includes the relationships between products and users, as well as environmental and social consequences of design. Students work in Stations, shared workspaces where they can test ideas with tools, materials, and equipment.
The programme includes an internship period, which may take place abroad, and concludes with graduation in the Major and a Practice profile. Students can choose the Autonomous, Social, or Commercial Practice profile. The academy also offers a five-year RASL dual-degree programme with Erasmus University Rotterdam, through which students can obtain a WdKA bachelor's degree and a second bachelor's degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
