Museum für Gestaltung Zürich traces its history to 1875 and maintains important sites at Ausstellungsstrasse and Pfingstweidstrasse. Together they support exhibitions, research, and a broad view of design and applied art.
The collection covers industrial and product design, furniture, packaging, textiles, watches, cameras, photography, film, and graphic design. A large proportion of the holdings is Swiss, while drawings, prototypes, patents, and advertising records help explain how objects move from an initial idea into production and everyday use.
