Die Neue Sammlung began in 1907 in connection with the German Werkbund and became a state museum in 1925. It is widely regarded as one of the earliest museums devoted specifically to modern design and industrial objects.
The collection contains more than 100,000 catalogued items across product, industrial, furniture, graphic, interface, mobility, ceramic, glass, jewelry, and appliance design. Its presentation in Munich's Pinakothek der Moderne gives visitors a broad view of how designed objects have shaped modern life.
