Nao Tamura
Nao Tamura is a Japanese multidisciplinary designer born and raised in Tokyo who moved to New York at 19 to study communication design at Parsons School of Design. Based between New York and Tokyo, she works across product, furniture, lighting, graphic, spatial, and installation design, exploring materials, technology, and Japanese and Western perspectives. Projects include SEASONS for COVO, winner of the inaugural SaloneSatellite Award in 2010, ORIGATA benches and consoles for Porro, and a public restroom for The Tokyo Toilet in Shibuya. Her work has been shown at Palais de Tokyo, Salone del Mobile, Triennale Milano, Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, and Vitra Design Museum; ORIGATA received an Honourable Mention at the XXIX Compasso d’Oro ADI and entered its Historical Collection.
